[총장실] 새 학기를 맞아 원우 여러분께

게시글 본문 “어떤 사람은 병거, 어떤 사람은 말을 의지하나 우리는 여호와 하나님의 이름을 자랑하리로다.” (시편 20:7)
새학기를 맞아 새로운 발걸음을 내딛는 여러분들께 하나님의 평강과 사랑이 가득하길 원합니다.
먼저, ACTS에 첫 발을 내딛는 신입생 여러분들을 예수님의 이름으로 환영합니다. 지난 40여년간 하나님의 마음으로 다듬어 지고 이어져 온 이 곳에서 새롭게 펼쳐질 여러분들의 학업과 삶 가운데 그 어디에서도 맛 볼 수 없었던 깊은 기쁨과 감사가 넘치길 원합니다. 또한, 지난 해에 이어 학업을 이어가는 재학생 여러분들의 삶과 사역 위에도 하나님의 한결같으신 은혜와 인도하심이 있기를 기도합니다.
여러분들을 환영하면서, 오늘 제가 여러분과 나누고 싶은 한마디는 다름 아닌 “결단”이라는 단어로 요약 될 수 있을 것 같습니다.
우리 주위에는 수 많은 소리들이 있습니다. 수 많은 요구들이 있습니다. 그리고 소유 하고픈, “먹음직도 하고, 보암직도 하고 탐스럽기도한” 화려한 것들도 곳곳에 자리하고 있습니다. 그리고 그 가운데는 각기 다른 소리들을 따라가는 사람들, 각기 다른 요구들을 충족시키는 사람들, 또한 각기 다른 소유물에 마음을 빼앗기는 사람들이 있습니다. 더 나아가, 이것들을 부추기는 문화들도 팽배합니다.
그러나, 저는 오늘 여러분들 마음 한가운데 다음과 같은 결단이 새겨지길 원합니다: “혹은 병거, 혹은 사람을 의지하나, 나는 여호와 하나님의 이름을 자랑하리로다.” 더 나아가, 이 결단을 끝까지 지켜나가시는 여러분들 되시길 원합니다. 새로운 출발선 앞에 서신 여러분 모두가, 달려갈 길을 다 마칠 때 까지 오직 하나님만을 의지하며 자랑하겠노라는 결단을 포기하지 않으시길 간절히 원합니다.

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7)
I hope and pray that the peace and love of God will be with you all, as you take new steps forward in this new academic year.
First and most of all, I would like to welcome all new students in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that here on this campus, which has been pruned and embellished in and through the hands of God for more than 40 years, you will be filled with joy and gratitude that you have neither tasted nor known before. Also, I welcome all the returning students and pray that you will continue to be filled with God’s everlasting grace and guidance.
The message that I want to share with you today, as I welcome you, can be summarized in the following word: “determination.”
We are surrounded by many sounds. We are surrounded by many needs. We are surrounded by many things that we wish to possess that are “good for food, pleasing to the eye, and desirable.” And among them are those who follow after different sounds, satisfy different needs, and are enraptured by different possessions. Further, there are cultures that incite these.
However, I would like to challenge you today to engrave in your heart the following determination: “Though some trust in chariots and others, in horses, I will trust in the name of the Lord our God.” And I hope and pray that all of you who are standing before a new starting point will be determined to trust in the Lord and in Him only until the very end.
